INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN HEALTHCARE? ATHLETIC TRAINING?
An important meeting regarding a career in healthcare or athletic training will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd , 2008**, at 3:15 p.m. at the Martin J. Broussard Center for Athletic Training (located next to Gate 10 in Tiger Stadium).

What is an Athletic Trainer?
Licensed medical professionals who are experts in injury prevention, assessment, treatment and physical rehabilitation, particularly in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal disciplines.
Students graduating from the concentration in Athletic Training
- Earn eligibility to sit for the national medical board examination for athletic trainers in their last semester
- Practice in various areas, including professional sports, high school sports, sports medicine clinics, military settings
- Practice “physician extender” role in assisting in surgery rooms and day-to-day operation of a physician’s office, such as patient evaluation, casting/bracing, physical rehabilitation
How Do I Become an Athletic Trainer?
- Attend one of two Orientation Meetings held each year (September; January)
- Obtain application materials
- Begin observational clinical experiences
