The PDK Crest

The Phi Delta Kappa crest is an important symbol of the heritage of PDK. The crest is a reminder of the history, focus, and ideals of PDK.
On the crest are three keystones that commemorate the three organizations that united to create Phi Delta Kappa: Pi Kappa Mu of Indiana University, Phi Delta Kappa of Columbia University and Nu Rho Beta of the University of Missouri.
The three stars on the keystones represent the student, the home, and the school.
The book and the burning lamp represent the ideal of research.
Th flaming torch represents service.
The upraised hand and sword symbolize leadership.
The acanthus leaves around the shield signify growth through learning.
