The annual Curriculum Camp, sponsored by LSU's Curriculum Theory Project, brings together renowned curriculum theory scholars to engage with graduate students from LSU as well as other regional institutions. Hosted at the Solomon Episcopal Center, in Loranger, La., students have the opportunity to present their research and engage in dialogue with faculty and other students. Curriculum Camp 2008 was historic in that the two Co-Founders and former Co-Directors of the Curriculum Theory Project at LSU, Professors William Pinar and William Doll, were the invited Campfire Speakers. This provided a unique opportunity for students to engage with international scholars.

William Doll, is Emeritus LSU Professor, and an internationally renowned author in the areas of Curriculum Theory, Cognition, Complexity, Chaos Theory, History of Curriculum, and International Studies of Curriculum. Until recently, Dr. Doll was the Division Leader for the Curriculum, Research, and Policy Studies. As in the past, the Camp served as an "intellectual retreat" where over 40 graduate students from various universities and |
institutions had an opportunity to share thoughtful, thought-provoking papers on a range of topics related to curriculum theory and curriculum studies. As Hillary Procknow, a doctoral candidate in Curriculum Theory, remarked, “Curriculum Camp is a wonderful opportunity for graduate students across country to be a part of the intellectual community. It is a very intimate setting, allowing mutual exchange of ideas between students and established scholars in the field.” Among many distinguished participants was Dr. Lisa Delpit, a visiting professor at LSU who is also an Executive Director and Eminent Scholar at the Center for Urban Education and Innovation at the College of Education, Florida International University.
