Poet Laureate Visits University Laboratory SchoolBATON ROUGE, LA—On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, Poet Laureate of Louisiana Darrell Bourque spoke to University Laboratory School English teachers and conducted a workshop for students who placed in the state writing contest LA WRITES!, sponsored by the Louisiana Writing Project. Bourque visited with English teachers (grade 6-12) in the downstairs conference room from 12:45-1:20 p.m. He then met students in Room H-248, conducting a poetry workshop involving at least one haiku that the students have written. University Laboratory School English Instructor Connie McDonald wrote the grant for Bourque’s visit that was funded through the University Laboratory School Foundation.
