Kinesiology Setting the Pace for Athletic Training Board Exam

The athletic training undergraduate concentration in the Department of Kinesiology exceeded the national average for passage rate on the Athletic Training Board of Certification examination. This exam is the national medical board exam to become and practice as a certified athletic trainer (ATC).

Eight athletic training senior students graduating this year sat for the Board of Certification Examination.  All eight students passed the exam, and graduated with the ATC credential.

 

Students that passed the exam in April and graduated this past May are:

Rachel Zgrabik ATC (graduate assistantship at University of Georgia)

Zane Kirby ATC (accepted to physician assistant school at LSU-Shreveport School of Medicine)

Minekazu Isobe ATC (athletic training internship with Houston Texans)

Caitlin Redlich ATC (graduate assistantship at Mississippi State University

Jarrod Swanson ATC (graduate assistantship at Samford University

Students that passed the exam in June and graduated this past May are:

Jace Cobb ATC (graduate assistantship at University of Oklahoma)

Jason Kraus ATC (graduate assistantship at St. Francis Trinity Hospital in Tyler, Tx)

 

Student that passed the exam in April and is graduating in August:

Jason Girad ATC (staff athletic trainer with Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria)

 

The national average for students passing the Board of Certification exam on their first attempt was approximately 32 percent last year.
