College of Education Hosts
Diploma Ceremony & Honors Convocation

On May 16, 2008, the College of Education held a diploma ceremony at the LSU Carl Maddox Fieldhouse for 286 graduates, conferring 238 bachelors, 35 masters, four Education Specialists, and nine doctoral degrees. Graduates represented 39 parishes, 16 states, and three foreign countries.

The ceremony featured a special presentation to retiring Kinesiology Chair Amelia Lee as well as recognition of Ashley Higgins and Andrew Raymond, two commissioned officers in the United States Military. University Medalists Kevin Dessauer and Stephanie Fife spoke at the ceremony.


On April 20, 2008, Dean M. Jayne Fleener honored outstanding College of Education undergraduate and graduate students on behalf of the college’s faculty and staff. The ceremony was held at the Tiger Den Suites on the LSU Campus.

Students honored included officers of the College of Education’s student organizations; sophomore honors; students with 4.0 cumulative grade point averages; and the College’s outstanding sophomore, junior, and senior.

The College of Education also acknowledged college recipients of 2007-08 scholarships and fellowships. Also honored were University Laboratory students recognized by the National Merit Program. College faculty were recognized for university service and national awards.
