St. James Parish Students Attend Gifted Conference

Two students from St. James Parish, Sydney Jack (below/left) and Lindsay Dufrene (right) attended the annual convention of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) in Minneapolis in November 2007 with their teacher, LSU College of Education graduate student Micah Bruce-Davis.

As part of their investigation into why and how leaders choose a field of study, they interviewed Joseph Renzulli, one of the nation’s foremost experts in gifted education. The girls and their classmates learned to conduct qualitative analysis of the 14 interviews. Jack and Dufrene have been invited to present their findings at the next NAGC to be held in Tampa, Florida. College of Education Assistant Professor Robbie McHardy conceived the project as part of a curriculum being developed to help gifted students design their own learning goals.
