Student Focus:Sherri GeorgeMonique Friloux, ContributorSherri George, an education graduate student, has persevered through many of life’s challenges to become an accomplished student. As a young mother, George has someone other than herself to care for on a daily basis. “My son provides me with the motivation to work harder because now I am not just doing it for me. I am working hard for him, which is much more important,” said George. |
Using her own experiences in motherhood, George has worked at Woman’s Hospital offering emotional support to pregnant teenagers and post-mastectomy patients. “I feel that we should all learn something new every day. That is what keeps us alive and gives us our thirst for living,” said George. As she completes her master’s degree, George tutors high school and college students. She has also worked with the LSU GEAR UP program in math at Kenilworth Middle School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. |
