Kinesiology Assistant Professor Wins AwardIn March 2007, College of Education Assistant Professor Maria Kosma was presented with the Mabel Lee Award during the Recognition Awards Ceremony of the annual convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (AAHPERD) held in Baltimore, Maryland. This prestigious national award recognizes young members who have demonstrated outstanding potential in scholarship, teaching, and professional leadership. It is the highest honor a junior faculty member can receive from AAHPERD. |
Kosma completed her bachelor’s degree in physical education and sport science at the University of Athens in her native Greece. She went on to receive her master’s at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, and her Ph.D. at Oregon State University. She has taught exercise psychology, research methods, and adapted physical education. Kosma believes that collaboration is important to excelling in the field and promoting physical education. “If we are able to work together with others who are passionate about physical education and health in an honest and effective way, we will be able to achieve our goals successfully,” said Kosma. |
