Louisiana State Improvement Grant 2 (LaSIG 2)

The Louisiana Department of Education Division of Educational Improvement and Assistance received funding for a five year State Personnel Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. This grant is an extension and expansion of the previously funded Louisiana State Improvement Grant (LaSIG), which had many successes in participating districts and schools over the five-year period of the project. LaSIG 2 plans to build upon the success of increased and improved systemic change, school and district improvement, and family engagement evidenced during the first project.

The focus of LaSIG 2 is to support improvement efforts at the district level and in some cases at the school level. Through continued use of the Systemic Change Framework, staff supports schools and districts in making improvement efforts at all necessary levels. LaSIG 2 expands authentic family engagement and partnerships, and improves access to professional development for all stakeholders (educators, students, families, and community members). LaSIG 2 continues to work closely with Families Helping Families regional resource centers and Pyramid Parent Training Project located in New Orleans and People First of Louisiana.
