Farewell to Retiring Faculty

On April 28, 2007, the College of Education hosted a retirement celebration for two of its beloved faculty members.

William “Bill” Doll has been an educator for more than 50 years and retired from the College as the Vira Franklin & J.R. Eagles Professor. In addition to publishing four books, writing countless articles, co-founding the Curriculum Theory Project, and traveling the world as an international scholar, Bill Doll is known by many as a legend in curriculum, revolutionizing the field by introducing complexity and chaos. In 2005, he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Educational Research Association.

Terry Geske, the J. Franklin Bayhi Professor of Education, first joined the College as a faculty member in the former Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Counseling in 1984. He has published extensively in the areas of the economics of education and education finance policy. His research efforts were concerned with schools of choice, charter schools, higher education finance, and the TOPS program in Louisiana. Geske has served as a member on the Oversight Committee for Tax Plan Propositions for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. In 2005, his work landed him a seat at the Oxford Round Table, focused that year on economics and the financing of education.
