Dr. Gardner's primary research interest is examining the psychosocial determinants of physical activity in special populations such as older adults and adults with physical disabilities. In addition, she is also interested in health-related quality of life issues in people of various disease states and disabilities. Understanding the determinants of physical activity is important for designing health promotion interventions to increase physical activity and improve health-related quality of life for these populations.
