Thomas Ricks

Dr. Thomas Ricks earned his PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia. He is joining the Elementary Education division in the Department of Educational Theory, Policy, and Practice as an Assistant Professor. While at Georgia he collaborated with researchers from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor on a $10.5 million National Science Foundatioin grant investigating the knowledge needed for teaching mathematics.
An active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, as well as in the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, he is collaborating with colleagues across campus on a federal grant for evaluating LSU’s preeminent undergraduate technology-assisted mathematics program in work with local high schools.
