Tammy Porter graduated from Southern University in 1994 with a B.S. in Business Education and a certification in Special Education.  She taught autistic and learning disabled students in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas.  Even though her passion was teaching students with special needs, she wanted to utilize her business knowledge in the private and public sector.  She plans on pursuing a Masters of Public Administration beginning Fall 2008.

Tammy’s major roles in the Office of Sponsored of Programs include assisting the principal investigators (PI’s) with procurement of sponsored project goods and services, coordination of sponsored program activities, such as conferences, travel and other events, and maintenance of project accounts and financial reports.
