The theme of this year's conference, Crossing Boundaries, Transcending Borders, observes the significant and innovative contributions of Women's and Gender Studies scholarship in terms of expanding the traditional boundaries of academic disciplines by incorporating a multitude of approaches, methods, theories, source materials and subject matters; examining socially constructed boundaries such as gender, race, class and sexuality; and addressing issues of identity and affiliation within and across geographical boundaries.

Possible topics include migration and diaspora, gender and racial-ethnic identity, globalization, cross-cultural experience, queer theory, performative and interdisciplinary research and pedagogy. We also welcome proposals that do not directly address the conference theme, but are relevant to women’s and gender studies scholarship. Similarly, we also invite alternative format presentations such as academic or documentary films and performances. The submission of pre-formed panels is especially encouraged.

Those interested should submit a 250 – 500 word abstract of a 15-20 minute presentation through the conference website no later than 4:30 pm on Tuesday, January, 22, 2008. Submissions will be accepted from graduate students and advanced undergraduate students.
