The LSU French Education Project Participates in International Conferences
In the coming month, The French Education Project will be participating in international conferences of French educators and showcasing presentations featuring their innovative project, The Virtual Museum. Through a collaborative effort between the French Education Project and the Museum of Natural Science, the Virtual Museum gives teachers across the state access to a virtual museum through compressed video distance learning at seven sites stretching from New Orleans to Shreveport.

Presentation: “Virtual Museum: A Technology-Enhanced Professional Development Program for Teachers of French”
Presenters: Denise Égéa-Kuehne, Sophie Warny, Arnaud Sgambato, Adrienne Lopez, and Rebecca Tedford
Presenters will discuss a professional development program which will offer a series of compressed-video workshops aimed at increasing the amount of science content in immersion and elementary classrooms and improving classroom practice in content-based teaching through hands-on activities.

The new contingent of French Foreign Adjunct Teachers sponsored by CODOFIL, the Louisiana Department of Education and the French Government, and recruited by Arnaud Sgambato, Attaché Pédagogique in the French Education Project, is arriving in Louisiana on July 29. On July 30 they will join the FATs coming from Belgium and Québec to begin a 3-day series of orientation meetings and workshops before deploying all over Louisiana to begin working in the public schools on Monday, August 6.
