Oral Histories

"I have had a career in teaching thanks to the College of Education, and I hope that the future of the College is that it will continue to take people like me who cared about the world and wanted a profession where they could make a difference. I expect LSU to continue doing that. I feel that all the successes I have had is in great part due to LSU."

- Gloria Kellum, Ph.D.

"Education for me is the greatest thing, the greatest bargain in the world because people can come from nothing. Given an education, get a job, and become a contributing member of society."

- Sue Weaver

“The atmosphere at the College of Education was what I loved so much. It was an academically charged, scholarly environment of inquiry and lunches and coffee house meetings and guest speakers who were brought in by Dr. William Doll and Dr. Cameron McCarthy and Dr. William Pinar and so many others. It was just an incredibly intellectually stimulating, interdisciplinary, diverse, challenging academic environment.”

- Patrick Slattery, Ph.D.
