Office of Development: Peabody Society

"Continuing the college's tradition of preparing leaders and

influencing policy in education, health and wellness."

Next Meeting: Thursday, October 2, 2008 - 11:00 a.m. Emerging Technology Center (on the LSU campus)

Founded in 1999, the Peabody Society is a distinguished group of alumni and friends who are dedicated to assisting the College of Education in attracting financial resources in support of its mission and goals. Members of the Peabody Society promote the College of Education and its programs, assist in development activities designed to enhance educational and research goals, and serve as spokespersons for the college within their communities.

The Peabody Society is named for George Peabody, “the father of modern philanthropy,” who focused his life on improving society, promoting education, and providing the poor with the means to help themselves.

The Peabody Society continues this legacy by playing a critical role in ensuring support of the college’s tradition of preparing leaders and influencing policy in education, health, and wellness.

During the College of Education’s centennial year, the Peabody Society will raise funds for the new Peabody Society Scholarship, identify donors for the College of Education Legacy Tree, and recruit sponsors for the Centennial Celebration and the Peabody Society Speaker Series.

Whether you are an alumnus, an advocate of education and wellness, or an LSU friend,

it is never too late to make an impact!
