Study Tips
Study guides are available from Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million as well as through ETS. ETS has developed guides, Tests at a Glance, which are available on the web at www.ets.org/praxis. Further resources are available at www.fetchbook.info/praxis.html and at www.imakenews.com/eletra/refer. We strongly suggest reviewing class notes and course materials in preparation for the tests.

Repeating Tests
For test security reasons, you may take each Computerized PRAXIS I test only once in any given 30-day period. If you violate this restriction, the scores from your retest will not be reported and your test fees will not be refunded. However, you may retake the test in paper & pencil format within the 30-day grace period.

You can contact ETS on the web at www.ets.org/praxis, through e-mail at praxis@ets.org, by calling 1-800-772-9476.

Study Tools Promote Effective Preparation

For Professors and Teacher Candidates, Study Tools Help Promote Effective Test Preparation

For prospective teachers gearing up for the Praxis I and II licensure . . . [,] study tools from ETS can enhance candidates’ test preparation efforts . . .

Test-Prep Toolbox

Among the most popular Praxis test preparation tools are the Tests at a Glance and the Praxis Study Guides, which help students evaluate their mastery of critical content areas and understand the standards on which the Praxis exams are based.

The Tests at a Glance are free, downloadable documents that define the specifications on which each test is based. They feature explanations of content areas, sample questions with the rationale for each best answer, and test-taking strategies. Through the Tests at a Glance, professors can give their students an accurate picture of the exams as well as the national disciplinary standards on which they are based.

The Study Guides include sample questions and tests, test-taking strategies, explanations of correct answers to each question, scoring keys, and scoring instructions. They offer a balanced combination of test preparation and practice to help candidates review critical skills and hone in on specific areas.

Study Guides are available for all core study areas for the Praxis I Basic Skills tests and for many of the Praxis II exams, which cover subject area and pedagogical knowledge. Guides may be purchased through the ETS Store and at select bookstores and retailers nationwide.

For test preparation, there’s no substitute for these tools. “Knowing what type of material will be on the exam and the format in which it will be presented is enormously helpful in orienting test takers to what’s expected of them,” says Linda Tyler, Senior Assessment Director for The Praxis Series at ETS.

“The Praxis study tools help test takers develop a level of familiarity and comfort before they take the test,” Tyler says.

And for teacher candidates who need to retake a Praxis exam, ETS now offers the Praxis Diagnostic Preparation Program for 18 of the Praxis II tests. This service provides a personalized feedback report based on the candidates’ actual performance on the test.
