COE Seeking Nominations for 2012 Awards Banquet

 

 

The LSU College of Education is extending an invitation to its alumni, faculty, staff and students to nominate individuals and community partners to be recognized for proven records of exceptional service to their professions, the college or the university. The honors will be conferred at the 2012 College of Education Awards Banquet on April 26 at the LSU Union Cotillion.

Awards which will be presented to alumni, faculty, staff, philanthropists and friends of the college are the Advocate for Diversity Award; the Alumni Distinction Award; the Award for Outstanding Service by Faculty or Staff; the Distinguished Faculty Research Award; the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award; the Distinguished Service on Behalf of the College Award; the Early Career Award; the Partnership Award; and the Philanthropist of the Year Award. LSU Laboratory School constituents may be nominated for the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award and the Alumni Distinction Award. 

The deadline for nominations is Thursday, Dec. 22. Additional information about these awards including the eligibility criteria and link to the required nomination cover sheet  is available by clicking the links below. Candidates not selected for 2012 will remain in consideration for 2013. 

Alumni, philanthropist and friend award recipients in 2011 were Elizabeth “Betty” Bollinger Huxel and Yelberton “Y.A.” Tittle, Alumni Distinction Awards; LSU Chancellor-Emeritus James H. Wharton, Award for Outstanding Service on Behalf of the College of Education; and the Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation, Philanthropist of the Year.

 

Faculty recipients in 2011 were Melinda Solmon, Distinguished Faculty Research Award;  Denise Egéa-Kuehne, Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award;  Jennifer Jolly and the Louisiana State Museum, College of Education Partnership Award; Kathy Hill, Faculty Award for Outstanding Service; and Nina Asher, College of Education Advocate for Diversity Award.
