Department of Kinesiology
Division of Undergraduate Studies

The undergraduate program in kinesiology provides programs of study for students interested in the art and science of human movement. An undergraduate degree in the Department of Kinesiology provides a broad, general education, with necessary supporting courses in basic sciences, core courses in the kinesiology body of knowledge, and a sequence of courses in an area of the following concentrations:
General Information
- For students interested in undergraduate studies in the Department of Kinesiology
Athletic Training
- Comply with the technical standards and essential qualities considered necessary to achieve the knowledge, skills, and competencies of an entry-level athletic trainer; and
- Provide training for students to pursue careers in high school, college and professional sport settings, or continue advanced study in the field.
Fitness Studies
- Provide training for students interested in clinical exercise physiology/cardiac rehabilitation, corporate wellness, and/or employment in a health club setting.
Health Science
- Prepare students for an add-on certification in teacher education, for work in hospital-based settings or for positions in the public health arena.
Human Movement Science
- Prepare students for graduate or advanced work in the allied health fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine, dentistry, and physician’s assistant.

K-12 Health & Physical Education Teacher Certification
- Provide a college-level teacher preparation program which leads to certification in both health and physical education (Students must pass the Praxis in order to graduate).
Sport Studies
- Incorporate a comprehensive study of the body of knowledge in Kinesiology; and
- Prepare students for careers in recreation, non-profit organizations, and other sport related fields.
