Concentration in Athletic Training

What is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)?

BOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are medical professionals who are educated and experienced in injury prevention, assessment, treatment and physical rehabilitation, particularly in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal disciplines.  In cooperation with physicians and other allied health care personnel, the ATC functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports programs, sports medicine clinics, military and industrial settings, and other health care settings. The athletic trainer functions in cooperation with medical personnel, administrators, coaches, parents, and other persons in the development and coordination of efficient and responsive health care delivery systems. Louisiana State University provides the students with knowledge and skills necessary to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) (http://www.bocatc.org) examination to practice as an ATC
